Drawing and painting classes took up most of her time outside of school until she discovered photography. It started as a hobby, but when, at a young age, she was hired by friends to take yearbook photos and family portraits, she decided that this was the path she was meant to pursue. Maranda cruised through multiple semesters of photo classes in high school in her hometown of Bangor, Maine. Later, after she had exhausted the University of Maine's catalog of photography courses, she decided to enroll at the renowned Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts. For one of her earliest assignments, she brought back a photo she had taken of a musician during a concert. "You don't know why this is so good," remarked her instructor, taken aback by her natural eye for composure, "but you will."From there, Maranda's versatile and unique style began to take shape as she dove into the world of professional photography. She took on every subject imaginable, from people to architecture, food to fashion. Currently, Maranda Bouchard Photography is based in Connecticut, though demand for her work brings her all over the northeast. Her success is attributed to an edgy mixture of styles not often found in the work of a single photographer. What inspires her is not the traditional, posed portrait, but the honest interaction between people in their own environment. The passion with which she pursues the capture of, as she describes it, the "live, honest moment" in her work is evident at a glance. It is this passion that sets Maranda apart as an able, artistic and forward-thinking photographer.
